Advanced Risk Intermediation refers to the active insurance risk and capital management through capital markets instruments such as bonds, loans, swaps or options involving the transfer of insurance risks.
The team was created in 2007 to develop innovative solutions for capital management and insurance risk transfer on behalf of Allianz SE and Group subsidiaries with a focus on capital markets oriented structures. A series of cat bonds have already been developed and launched successfully by this team.
Why cat bonds? They offer:
- A flexible multi-peril platform supporting a sophisticated risk management
- Access to alternative, non-traditional retrocession capacity (supplementing traditional reinsurance)
- Better diversification of reinsurance capacity to ease constraints for peak perils
- Full collateralization on a multi-year basis
